THE SOUND OF THE SHOFAR ( Shorashim Torah Study)
THE SOUND OF THE SHOFAR
Another Shorashim Torah Study PDF
In that day, a great shofar will be blown, and the lost from the land of Assyria and the oppressed from the land of Egypt will come and bow down to G-d in the holy mountain in Jerusalem ( Isaiah 27:13)
The shofar calls for introspection and teshuva. Upon listening to its sound, the soul is motivated to purify itself before G-d, to stand straight and with a contrite heart before the Holy One, Blessed Be He. Only after such a spiritual change can he call together convocations of prayer, worship or thanksgivings. Only then could one truly go to battle in faith. That sound which resonates so clearly in each Jewish soul is an echo and a whisper of another time when the shofar was heard...it reverts back to the time the Israelites stood at the foot of Mt. Sinai.
