Tears of prayer brings much light into the world

For You light my lamp; HaShem, my G-d, does light my darkness.

Psalm 18:29

Tears combined with prayer represent a clear uncluttered channel to G-d. Our sages teaches that while the regular gates of prayer ( piety, charity,obedience..etc) may sometimes be closed or obstructed, the Gates of Tears (Sha'arei Dim'ah) are never locked.

So every tear of prayer is both a lamp and a key to allow light to remove the darkness
